Support at Home Contribution Rates

For detailed Support at Home pricing, click here

Support at Home Contribution rates are based on your income and assets and vary by the type of services received.

Based on services received, participant contributions are as follows:

  • Clinical Support services – no contribution (e.g. nursing and physiotherapy)
  • Independence services – moderate contributions (e.g. personal care and assistive technology)
  • Everyday Living services – highest contributions (e.g. domestic assistance and gardening)

Services Australia conducts an income and asset assessment to determine your contribution percentage, with:

  • Full pensioners – paying the lowest contribution
  • Part pensioners and those eligible for a Commonwealth Seniors Health Card – paying contributions determined by their income and assets
  • Self-funded retirees not eligible for a Commonwealth Seniors Health Card – paying the highest contribution.

No Worse Off Principle – Older persons that were receiving or approved for the Home Care Packages (HCP) Program on or before 12 September 2024 are no worse off under Support at Home.

This means:

  • If you were assessed as having to pay an income-tested care fee under HCP, you will pay the same or less under SAH.
  • If you were assessed as not having to pay an income-tested care fee under HCP, you will never be asked to pay contributions under SAH.

Services Australia will notify you of the contribution amount payable.

Your contributions may changes over time due to the following:

  • changes to assessed aged care needs
  • changes to financial circumstances
  • indexation of pension rates and thresholds
  • reaching lifetime caps.Contribution rates are based on your income and assets and vary by the type of services received.
